X-Men basketball pick up pre-season win

The X-Men Basketball team played a pre-season exhibition game in Moncton Sunday against Crandall University and emerged victorious with a 99-52 win. Crandall competes in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association.

X-Men head coach Tyrell Vernon noted that, "It was good to play outside competition. There are some things we need to clean up, but overall it was a good start to our exhibition season."

The X-Men got out to leads of 31-16 after the first quarter and 52-28 at halftime.

Bennet Grumbach was the leading scorer with 17 points in the game as 10 different X-Men appeared in the scoring tally.

David Muenkat netted 15 points, Deon Ejim scored 14 and Keyonte Beals had 12. Gatluak James and Antoine Vernon each contributed nine points and Dondre Reddick added eight.

The X-Men will be back in exhibition action at the Mickey Place Memorial Tournament in Charlotetown this weekend where they will face Windsor on Saturday, October 1st.
