WHKY | Voyageurs Rally for Overtime Win
The Laurentian Voyageurs women's hockey team started the second half of their season against the Queens Gaels. 
 
The Vees ended the first half of the season with a record of 5-6-1 with a total of fifteen points and a loss to the York Lions. 
 
Tonight's matchup was against the Queens Gaels in Kingston for the Vees. The Gaels started their second half with a record of 8-5. The Gaels were the first to score and as well the second team to score. Alex Maw and Devon Greenough were the Gaels players to beat Shanna Dolighan and give the Gaels a 2-0 lead after the first. 
 
The Voyageurs would retaliate come halfway through the second with a two goal effort from the co-captains. Annie Sherdian would pot her first goal of the season 11:30 into the second on Mackenzy Arsenault and Gabby Jex would pick up the assist. Morgan McCann would get her third goal of the season just sixteen seconds after the previous goal, Megan Arnott and Karrisa Hoskin would get the assists. 
 
Nicole Posesorski would be the Gael player to break the tie less than two minutes later. Posesorski would pot her third goal of the season on Dolighan and make the game a 3-2 lead for the Gaels. 
 
The Voyageurs would make a major offensive push for a two goal effort. The first of which would come at a crucial time, with 1:36 left in the third. Gabby Jex scored her first of the season, tieing the game to send it into overtime. Maddison Heeney and Annie Sherdian would get the assists. 
 
The Voyageurs would break the Gaels in overtime just two minutes and forty-eight seconds into the extra frame. Michelle Weaver-Vitale would score her first goal of the season at an equally crucial time. Angélique Pagé would force a turnover in the neutral zone, and carried the puck into the Gaels' zone on a 2-on-1. Pagé slid the puck across to Weaver-Vitale, who ripped a shot over Arsenault's glove.
 
The Vees would take the game and the first game of the second half of the season. They will play Ontario Tech University tomorrow at 3:30pm.
