The Saint Mary's men's hockey team beat Dalhousie 5-2 on November 30, at the Halifax Forum.

Saint Mary's started the game in control as their backcheck made it hard for Dalhousie to generate any scoring opportunities. It looked like we may have our first goal when the Huskies went on a powerplay four minutes into the period but the Dalhousie penalty kill did their job to keep the game scoreless. Later in the period the Tigers' effort paid off when Shaun Miller (Enfield, NS) snuck a shot over the shoulder of Saint Mary's goalie Jeremy Helvig (Kingston, ON) to make it a 1-0 Dalhousie lead.

Tempers begined to flare in the second period as Dalhousie's Liam Peyton (Halifax, NS) squared off with Saint Mary's Sam Dunn (Hamilton Township, ON). Both players received game misconduct penalties for their efforts. Later in the period, the Huskies capitalised off of a long, cross-ice pass to set Nathan Dunkley (Campbellford, ON) up with a breakaway that he scored on to tie the game back up. Not long after Dunkley's goal, the cross-town rivalry was fully underway as a series of penalties led to a 3-on-3 situation that the Huskies quickly made the most of. Justin MacPherson (East Gwillimbury, ON) and Cedric Ralph (Peterborough, ON) each found the back of the net to give the Huskies a 3-1 lead.

The Tigers did their best to mount a comeback in the third period, but the Huskies staunch defence made it difficult for Dalhousie to get anything going. The Huskies ended up winning the game 5-2, moving them closer in the AUS standings to the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus for the conference's third seed.

MacPherson was named Subway player of the game for his efforts as he racked up a goal and two assists in the win. 

The Huskies will be back in action this Friday when they host StFX in a match-up that has serious ramifications in the league standings. Dalhousie will start preparing to take on Acadia Saturday at the Halifax Forum.
