Fresh off a weekend split on the road against then-No. 1 Victoria, the University of Regina's women's basketball team returns home this weekend for a pair of games against the Calgary Dinos at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

The Cougars (7-1) were dominant in an impressive 72-49 win over the Vikes last Friday, but had a poor fourth quarter on Saturday and lost for the first time during the conference schedule as Victoria took a 75-65 victory.

Third-year guard Joanna Zalesiak is third in Canada West with 16.1 points per game and leads the conference with an average of 4.8 assists per contest. Zalesiak also has a team-leading 17 steals and ranks third on the Cougars with 44 rebounds.

Lindsay Ledingham is also scoring in double figures for the Cougars, as the third-year forward averages 11 points per game and ranks second on the team with 6.6 rebounds per contest. Gabrielle Gheyssen averages 9.5 points per game, while Anne Mercer scores 7.1 points per game and leads the team with 68 rebounds. Danielle Schmidt has rounded out the starting five for the Cougars in each of the previous six contests and averages 5.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

Carly Graham and Megan Chamberlin have been the first two off the bench for the Cougars. Graham averages 9.3 points per game and leads the team with 18 three-pointers, while Chamberlin averages 16.1 minutes played and is shooting a team-high 84.2% from the charity stripe.

The Cougars will be playing their final home games of the first half of the schedule, as the team won't return to action following next weekend's contests against Alberta until non-conference games in late December against McMaster and Saskatchewan.

Calgary (3-5) is coming off a pair of big wins over Brandon. The Dinos beat the Bobcats 89-50 last Friday, then followed that up with a 99-43 victory on Saturday night. Calgary is led by fifth-year forward Ashley Hill, who leads Canada West with 32 three-pointers and ranks fourth in the conference with an average of 15.9 points per game.

This weekend marks Calgary's final two games of the first half of the Canada West schedule. The Dinos return to conference action on Jan. 7 and Jan. 8 at home against Fraser Valley.

The two teams meet at 6:15 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday. Webcast and live statistics will be available at www.reginacougars.com.
