Guelph defeats UBC in comeback fashion, advances to the semifinals

VICTORIA (U SPORTS) – Kennedy Feasby’s try in the final minute of play proved to be the difference-maker as the Guelph Gryphons defeated the UBC Thunderbirds in comeback fashion, 26-25, in their quarterfinal game at the 2022 U SPORTS Women’s Rugby Championship on November 2.

Guelph’s tries were scored in the 20th, 41st, 58th and 69th minute by Kennedy Feasby (2), Shoshauna Gauvin, and Brianna Martey, respectively, while Florence Symonds (3rd minute), Mia Bullock (13 and 26th minutes), Kally King (44th minute), and Savannah Bauder (65th minute) replied in a losing cause for the Thunderbirds.

With this win, Guelph advances to play Laval on Friday, November 4 at 5 p.m. PT in the semifinals, while UBC takes on Acadia in the consolation semifinal on November 4 at 1 p.m. PT.
