Moncton, NB – The STFX X-Men (10-4-1) took a 3-0 lead and then held on to defeat the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus (4-9-1) by a 4-2 score on Saturday night at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

Moncton was looking to win three games in a row for the first time this season, but that streak will have to wait. Adam Howell scored on the power play in the first period for the X-Men.

Matthew Philip and Subway player of the game Jacob Hudson tallied in the second as the X-Men were up 3-0.

There was a comeback on the part of the Blue and Gold who came back with two goals on the man advantage to reduce the gap to one. Mika Cyr scored unassisted on a high shot with seven seconds left to play in the second period.

Nathaël Roy - from Cyr and Denis Toner - had a shot from the blue line early in the third period, giving hope to the hometown spectators.

Liam Hawel restored the visitor's two-goal lead in the sixth minute of the third period and the X-Men held on for the 4-2 win.

Blade Mann-Dixon saw 24 shots for the win in the X-Men net, while Émile Samson faced 33 shots in the loss. Moncton benefited from 2 of the 6 on the power play, and it was 1 for 3 for STFX.

The Aigles Bleus visit the Saint Mary's Huskies next Friday while the X-Men will play at Dalhousie on Wednesday night.
