Axemen score in 90th minute to earn key point against Moncton

In a closely contested match between Moncton and Acadia, a 90th minute goal by Nathan Amoah-Gyekye was the main story as the Axemen came back to earn a 1-1 draw in their home opener at Raymond Field.

Moncton took the lead in the 63rd minute with a goal from Jonathan Kisse, assisted by Soumaila M. Dagnoko. Which wasn't equalled until Amoah-Gyekye finishing on the final-minute corner kick.

The match was intense, with a total of 25 fouls committed - 13 by Moncton and 12 by Acadia. Both teams received multiple yellow cards, with players from both sides being cautioned for their play.

In terms of shots, Moncton had 24 attempts with 13 on target, while Acadia had 15 shots with eight on target. Moncton's goalkeeper, Soan Janssen, made seven saves, while Acadia's goalkeeper, Dylan Legere, made 11.

The draw leaves Moncton with a record of 0-0-2, while Acadia now sits at 0-1-1 for the season. 

Next up for Acadia they travel to Cape Breton (2-0-0) to face the Capers on Sunday, Sept. 8. Moncton host Mount Allison (1-1-0) on Thursday before hosting UPEI (1-1-0) on Sunday.
