MSOC | Early Offense Secures Victory for Voyageurs

The Voyageurs men's soccer team rounded out their Thanksgiving weekend with a solid 2-0 victory over the Trent Excalibur on Sunday afternoon.

The Voyageurs wasted no time opening the scoring when Evan Stronach notched his first of the season in the 5th minute. Just nine minutes later, veteran defender, Zach Gallo followed suit as he also netted his first of the season putting the Voyageurs up 2-0. The early onslaught concluded the scoring for the game as neither team found the net for the remainder of the game. The Voyageurs continued to generate offensive chances, getting another seven shots on Excalibur goalkeeper, Mitchell Leclair, but he managed to shut the door for the rest of the game.

The story was a little different on the Voyageurs' side as keeper, Connor Vande Weghe, was tested only three times throughout the contest while securing his second shutout of the season.

The Voyageurs, (6-5-1) who currently sit in third place in the OUA East division, return home this weekend as they welcome the Ryerson Rams and University of Toronto Varsity Blues to the LU Soccer Field on Saturday and Sunday.
