Awde Lifts Tommies in Overtime

An early goal by Florence Awde, at 1:07 of the overtime period, lifted the St. Thomas University Tommies (4-4-0=8pts, 5th position) to a 2-1 win over Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (2-7-1=5pts, 7th position) Saturday evening at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena in Atlantic University Sport women's hockey action.   

Mariah Careyat 11:28 for the visitors and Maëlle Rioux (Emilie Lalancette), 2 minutes later for the Blue and Gold, had scored goals in the third period following two scoreless periods. With a 1-1 score at the end of regulation time, all hopes were present with both teams. Audrey Berthiaume, in the losswas the busiest of the goaltenders with 38 shots, including 13 in the third period. Marandee Hunter saw 28 pucks for the win. St. Thomas was 0 for on the power play and Moncton, for 2.   

The Blue and Gold will visit the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers on Saturday, in Charlottetown and host the Saint Mary's Huskies, Sunday at 3p.m.
