Moncton, NB - A spectacular save by goaltender Audrey Berthiaume with 11 seconds to play and a goal by captain Janie Poitras at 14:15 of the third period allowed the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (4-5-0-1=9pts, 5th position) to shutout the St. Thomas University Tommies (4-6-0-0=8pts 6th position), 1-0 Saturday in front of more than 150 spectators at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena on the Moncton campus in an Atlantic University Sport women's hockey game.
With just over a minute to play, the Tommies pulled their goalkeeper in favor of a sixth attacker in the blue and gold zone and attacked well when the goalkeeper stole a goal with her mitt on a hard shot 10 meters from the net. Berthiaume received a long-standing ovation for her prowess. She made 24 saves to register her shutout.
The two teams played a similar game in the first two periods with few shots. The challenge in the third was the victory and the attackers tried everything to thwart the vigilance of the goalkeepers. Janie Poitras (Emilie Lalancette) took advantage of a high shot that passed besides the goalkeeper's mitt to score the only goal of the game. Moncton moved ahead of St. Thomas in the standings by one point with this win.

The Tommies led in shots on goal with 24 (7-8-9) against 15 (2-9-4) for the local team. The Tommies could not score in 3 power play situations against 0 and 2 for the Aigles Bleues.
The Aigles Bleues next game will be Saturday in Charlottetown against the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers. The Saint Mary's University Huskies will visit Marc-André Côté's team on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the UNIplex Centre in Dieppe.
