The UPEI Panthers ran into some hot goaltending Saturday night, as the Dalhousie Tigers came away with a 3-2 win.

Dalhousie (4-12-2) netminderConnor Hicks turned aside 31 shots — almost twice as many as his counterpart — to earn his second win of the campaign.

Duncan MacIntyre, Matt Green and Logan Johnston all scored for the visitors, while Connor Welsh recorded a pair of assists.

Before the Tigers went on their scoring run, it was the Panthers (6-8-3) who struck first. At 3:46 of the first, Jordan Maher tapped home a rebound off Darian Pilon's shot, to give his team the early 1-0 edge.

Dalhousie went to work late in the second period and capitalized on a 5-on-3 at 14:31, when Jonathan Cyr sent a pass to MacIntyre, who laced the one-timer in the top left corner.

With just five seconds remaining in the frame, Welsh's shot deflected off goaltender Simon Hofley and over him, as Green tapped it in for the 2-1 advantage.

The Tigers added another one midway through the third, when Welsh's shot from the point deflected off Johnston's stick and in.

The Panthers responded with a power play goal with less than five minutes remaining when Kameron Kielly delivered a crisp cross-ice pass from the point to Darian Pilon, who redirected it in.

That's as close as they'd get as Dalhousie held on for the much-needed win and inched closer to that final playoff spot, currently held by UPEI.
