(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB Reds cruised to an 85-71 win over the Memorial Sea-Hawks on Saturday night.

Matur Maluach (Sydney, Australia) had 17 points and five rebounds to earn Subway Player of the Game honours.

"Our rebounding was really good tonight, our big guys did a really good job boxing out, we ran out in transition, made a couple threes, opened the game up and took it from there," said Maluach.

The Reds would take control from the start, leading 22-16 after the first quarter.

The second would see much of the same as UNB went into half-time up 45-31.

The Sea-Hawks would edge the Reds in scoring in the third, but that would hardly make up any ground for the 'Hawks, as UNB continued to lead, 64-52, heading into the final quarter.

Memorial would continue to battle hard in the fourth, but it wasn't enough as the Reds took the game 85-71.

Ibrahima Doumbouya (Calgary, AB) had 13 points and 15 rebounds in the win, while Chris Spurrell (Quispamsis, NB) added 15 points for the Reds.

Cole Long (St. John's, NL) led all scorers with 25 points and added a game-high 16 rebounds. Jason Thompson (St. John's, NL) added 12 points and two rebounds for the Sea-Hawks.

With the win, the Reds improve to 12-and-6, good for a share of second place in the Atlantic University Sport standings.

The Sea-Hawks drop to 6-and-12 with the loss.

These two teams meet again Saturday, at 1:00pm, at UNB's Aitken Centre.
