Hawks Hunting For Wins

MEN'S SOCCER – SEA-HAWKS HEAD TO NB HUNTING FOR WINS

  • Saturday, Sept. 14th – 3:15pm AST vs. UNB
  • Sunday, Sept 15th – 3:15pm AST vs. Moncton

THE MATCHUP

The Sea-Hawks head to New Brunswick this weekend looking for their first victories of the season. The Hawks were swept at home last weekend by the Saint Mary's Huskies, dropping a 4-3 decision on Saturday, followed by a 2-0 loss on Sunday.

While the Hawks weren't able to grab wins at home, there was lots to be positive about. Rookie Jacob Grant scored his first career goal as a Sea-Hawk and was dangerous up front all weekend for the Hawks. The return of Tyler Kirby and Kyle Williams gives the Hawks a dynamic frontline, which will keep their opponents on their heels all season long.

As for the Reds, they enter play with a 1-1 record. UNB dropped a 2-1 match last weekend to the U Sports #1 ranked Cape Breton Capers, followed by a 4-1 victory over StFX. The Reds came up short in last year's AUS final and are surely motiviated to get back again this season.

Memorial's Sunday matchup will put them up against the Moncton Aigles Bleus, who are 1-1-0 on the season. Moncton opened the season with a 3-2 loss to Dalhousie, but secured a victory last Sunday over Mount Allison.

The Hawks dropped a 6-0 decision to UNB, followed by a 3-0 loss to Moncton on this same road trip last season. Scoring was a big problem for the Hawks all last season, but with some new additions up front, the Hawks are hopefully they can secured points in the standings this weekend.
