BLUES HOLD ON TO EDGE LANCERS IN SHOOTOUT

Box Score Fourth-year veterans Dylan Heide and Christian Finch combined for eight points and third-year goalie Andrew Hunt made 44 saves as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team defeated the Windsor Lancers 6-5 in a shootout on Friday, January 15 at Varsity Arena.

With the win, the Blues improve to 7-11-2 and move into a tie for seventh place, while the Lancers drop to 10-7-3 and sit third in the OUA West division.

Heide scored one goal and added three assists, while Finch had four assists, all on the powerplay, in the win. Toronto went 4-for-6 on the man advantage, compared to Windsor's 1-for-4. Hunt was spectacular between the pipes with 37 saves in regulation, followed by seven in overtime and four more in the shootout.

Down 2-1 after the first period, the Blues exploded for three second period goals, two on the powerplay, to take a 4-3 advantage into the third frame.

Patrick Marsh scored 4:26 into the third period to make it 5-3, but the Lancers responded with two goals from Kyle Hope and a shorthanded marker from Julian Luciani with 1:04 remaining to force overtime.
Russell Turner, Max Lindsay and Dean Klomp also scored in regulation, with Marsh and Klomp tallying for the Blues in the shootout.

The Varsity Blues return to action tomorrow night as they host the Brock Badgers at Varsity Arena. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
