2027 World University Games: Call for Applications Team Canada Mission Staff
The FISU Winter and Summer World University Games are the Olympic Games of University Sport and U SPORTS is thrilled to send a Canadian Delegation to compete in twelve (12) sports in January 2027 and eighteen (18) sports in August 2027. The FISU World University Games are some of the largest multisport events worldwide.
U SPORTS is the franchise holder of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) in Canada and is responsible for the coordination and entry of the Canadian team in both the Summer and Winter FISU World University Games. Every two years, Canadian delegations are sent to Summer and Winter FISU World University Games supported by a Canadian Mission Team composed of experienced sport leaders and medical staff from across the country.

2027 FISU World University Games
The World University Games take place every two years in various cities around the world. The 2027 Games will be the 33rd edition of the Winter and Summer FISU World University Games.

The Canadian delegations are anticipated to be composed of approximately 150 members (110 student-athletes and 40 support staff) for the winter and 340 members (240 student-athletes and 100 support staff) for the summer. Student-athletes must meet specific eligibility criteria to participate, and coaching staff must satisfy the Team Canada FISU World University Games Coaching Certification Policy.
Team Canada Mission Staff
U SPORTS is currently seeking experienced individuals to help lead the Canadian delegations for the 2027 FISU World University Games in operational and communications roles. Available positions and their descriptions are listed below. Job descriptions are available here.

Candidates for all Mission Staff positions will possess the best combination of the following:

Currently working in Canadian university athletics

Excellent organizational and administrative skills
-
Outstanding administrative and leadership abilities
-
Strong ability and desire to work in a team environment

Commitment for all planning meetings prior to the Games and the duration of the Games
(approximately 20 days on site: January 9-27, 2027 for winter and July 26-August 14, 2027)

Endorsement from the university or employer

Games Mission Team experience is an asset and essential for the Chef de Mission position

Ability to work in English and French is an asset

Availability to perform required duties and tasks leading up to the FISU WUG

Knowledge of international sport structures, policies (including Safe Sport), and protocol
Gender equity, bilingual language requirements, and team environment compatibility will be considered. Although previous FISU World University Games experience is an asset, mission staff selection will take a balanced approach in the view to develop Games volunteers. Multiple Games experiences will not guarantee selection. All candidates will be subject to a screening process, including a criminal records check and reference check, prior to the confirmation of their selection. All participants will be required to take Safe Sport Training.All positions are considered voluntary, but expenses including travel, meals, accommodations, Team Canada kit, administration, supplies, etc., will be covered by U SPORTS.
