U SPORTS applauds appointment of new Secretary van Koeverden

U SPORTS, the national brand of university sports in Canada, would like to congratulate the Hon. Adam van Koeverden (Burlington North – Milton West) on his appointment as Canada’s Secretary of State (Sport).

“On behalf of U SPORTS, our 58-member universities and our 15,000-plus student-athletes, I would like to welcome Mr. van Koeverden to his position as Secretary of State (Sport),” said U SPORTS Chief Executive Officer Pierre Arsenault. “As a former Olympian, Secretary van Koeverden understands the importance of sports and physical activity in the lives of Canadians. We look forward to working with him and the Team at Sport Canada to advance opportunities for student-athletes in Canada via our national championships and through our U SPORTS International programs, including the upcoming FISU Summer World University Games.”

U SPORTS receives funding from Sport Canada to deliver programming that supports the Government of Canada’s vision to provide high-performance opportunities for our student-athletes and promote sports participation among all Canadians, from playground to podium.
