Cross country runner Yves Sikubwabo from Laval University is the ArcelorMittal Dofasco CIS male athlete of the week for the period ending October 16, 2016.
Sikubwabo, a first-year engineering physics major from Kicukiro, Rwanda, won the UNB Invitational race on Saturday, in the annual AUS-RSEQ interlock event. The Rouge et Or rookie crossed the finish line over 20 seconds ahead of teammate Igor Bougnot, claiming his second straight victory and third consecutive podium finish.
Soccer player Niklas Bauer of Wilfrid Laurier, and hockey players Stephen Anderson of UNB and Steven Stanford of Calgary were the other male nominees.
