Adut Bulgak, a native of Edmonton, Alb., also contributed 16 points while Dakota Whyte of Ajax, Ont., and CIS female athlete of the year Korissa Williams had 11 points apiece.
Korea came out fighting in the first quarter and kept the game at a high tempo for the entire forty minutes. In the second, Canada took control of the game and went on a 10-0 run en route to a 22-point, 46-24, lead at the half.
The Canadians held the hosts to just six points in the third quarter to go along with a 13-0 run to seal the victory.
“We had a good game and played strong from start to finish,” said Dornstauder. “Korea had a lot of speed and a lot of heart, and they fought really hard right until the end.”
The red and white also improved on their shooting percentage from game one shooting an impressive 55% from the field. The Canadians also dominated the game defensively, out-rebounding Korea 54-31.
Canada will finish preliminary competition when they face Mozambique Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. (4:30 a.m. ET). A win will place the team in first place in the pool and guarantee them a spot in the medal round.
