Men finish first, women second at Don Mills Open
It's always a race the Warriors cross country team gets up for and today was no exception as the black and gold showed their stride across the lower Columbia Icefields in today's Don Mills Open race. The men's team came away with the lowest team points with 23 for top spot while the women had 43 to finish second overall.
Individually James Milton (Kitchener) won the men's 10km race in a time of 33:15.1, 12 seconds ahead of second place Jelmer van den Hadelkamp of Brock. Chris Moore was the next best Warrior finisher with his time of 33:52.4, good for fourth spot. Dan Fournier (Timmins) rounded out the top three for the black and gold with a time of 34:08.9

In the women's race Stephanie Ryall (Hamilton) was Waterloo's top finisher with her time of 23:17.2 in the 6km race, good for third overall among OUA runnners. Samantha McGuinness (Stratford) was the next best Warrior with a fifth place finish thanks to her timeof 23:26.6 while Alyssa Randall (North Bay)came in eighth spot (23:41.10).View complete women's results
The Warriors will compete again on October 16 in Toronto at the UofT Invitational.

Two Huskies finish in top five at cross country U of S Open
Two University of Saskatchewan cross country athletes finished in the top five racers at the annual Huskie U of S Open in Saskatoon's Victoria Park Saturday.
Rookie Shayna Uhryn finished second in a time of 22.55, clocking in just 100th of a second behind the top finisher in the six-kilometre race. Fifth-year Brooke Mentanko crossed the finish line fourth with a time of 23.29.
MacEwan Griffin Hannah Leggatt finished first in the race at 22.54, while Nicole Soderberg of the Alberta Pandas rounded out the podium in third at 23.21.

Russell Pennock (Calgary Dinos) won the men's eight-kilometre race in a time of 25.44. Regina Cougar Adam Strueby finished second at 25.49 and Alberta Golden Bear Kieran McDonald third at 25.52. Robert Bigsby had the top finish for the Huskie men's team in a time of 26.51 to finish 15th.
Calgary came in first in the team standings on the men's side, while the Alberta Pandas finished in the women's team standings. The Huskie women finished second, while the men were sixth.
The Huskies compete in the Stewart Cup on October 29th. The Stewart Cup will be the final preparation for the CIS and Canada West Championship on November 12.
