A slow start left the Cape Breton University Capers playing a catch-up game all night as they fell 72-57 to the St. Francis Xavier X-Women in AUS women’s basketball action at the Sullivan Fieldhouse.
CBU, which fell to 1-2 on the season, shot just 30 per cent on the night and trailed the visitors 16-6 after the first quarter and 38-25 at the half.
Colleen Keane led the Capers offence on the night, finishing with 13 points and seven boards in a losing cause.
Brittany Hollins also had 13 points for the home side while Tanira McClurkin finished with 11 points and six assists.
Kolbi Roper had a game high 23 points and added seven rebounds for the X-Women.
Rebecca Sheehan with 17 points and eight assists and Lindsay Lessard with 14 points and eight rebounds were other top players for the visitors.
CBU will be back in action November 23rd when they host the Saint Mary’s Huskies in a 6 p.m. start at the Sullivan Fieldhouse.
