OTTAWA - Carleton University is pleased to announce
Marty Johnston as the new coach of the
university's men's hockey team.
Johnston has been an assistant to the Ravens for the past three
seasons and has coached locally with the Gloucester Rangers. His
playing experience includes being the two-year captain of the
Dalhousie University Tigers, a Memorial Cup with the Hull Olympique
and playing professionally in both the American Hockey League and
in Europe.
"The department is very excited to have Marty as the new leader of
our men's hockey program," commented Jennifer
Brenning, director of Carleton Recreation and Athletics.
"His passion and commitment for hockey, coaching, student-athletes
and Carleton were very evident throughout the process."
Johnston inherits a competitive team that has exited the playoffs
in the second round for the past two years.
"There is a strong nucleus of committed players returning and we
are very confident that under Marty's leadership the program will
position itself to be a consistent contender within the OUA and the
CIS," said Brenning.
