CIS men's basketball Tuesday roundup: Dunn, Thomas lead No. 2-ranked X-Men to thrilling victory over Huskies

HALIFAX, N.S. - The CIS No. 2-ranked StFX X-Men travelled to Halifax Tuesday night and survived a gritty effort from the Saint Mary's Huskies to post a 93-90 road victory in another classic instalment of a rivalry that had fans the Tower on their feet down the stretch as the Huskies missed on a three-point attempt at the buzzer to force overtime.

StFX's Jeremy Dunn (Wolfville, N.S.) led all scorers with 35 points and was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line to pace the X-Men. Terry Thomas (East Preston, N.S.) added 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals for StFX, who moved past the UPEI Panthers and into first place in the AUS standings with the four-point victory.

The Huskies led the see saw affair 43-41 at the half and 66-63 after three quarters but struggled from the free throw line, converting only 6-of-15 attempts.

Harry Ezenibe, a 6-foot-4 forward from Nigeria, had a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds while fourth-year guard Miguel Pink (Whitby, Ont.) made six three pointers to finish with 18 points to pace Saint Mary's. Brian Rouse added 17 points for the Huskies, while Tory Fassett had 13 and Jerome Smith finished with 12.

The undefeated X-Men (5-0, 14 pts) are set to begin the holiday break and won't play again until the Rod Shoveller tournament at Dalhousie Decemeber 29-31.

The Huskies (2-4, 6 pts) will travel to Sydney to finish off the fall term versus the Cape Breton Capers this Friday, December 2nd at 6:00pm. The game can be seen via webcast at www.gocapersgo.ca.
