Key stats 2013:
Awards & honours (since start of CIS career): Queen’s Offensive Player of the Year (2013)… East-West Bowl Starting QB (2013)… 1st in CIS in TD to INT ratio (min. 50 attempts).

Billy McPhee enters his fifth and final season as a Gael as he looks to finish off his Queen’s football career on the same trend he established his first four seasons, always improving.

“I think this year is all about efficiency, having a high completion percentage and good touchdown to interception ratio,” said McPhee. “Also being a leader for the guys on the team, between myself and a handful of other fourth and fifth years we’re going to be looked upon to be the leaders out there.”

Each and every year McPhee has simply gone about his business and improved upon his game, increasing his touchdown numbers, limiting his turnovers and learning the game inside and out.

"Billy McPhee was by far the most improved quarterback in the OUA last year,” said head coach Pat Sheahan. “His touchdown - interceptions ratio was the best in the league and he improved significantly running the ball when required. I expect Bill to lead a young but talented group of receivers and offensive backs to an exciting year on offense that will be a contender by season's end."

McPhee has thrown for more yards every year topping out at 2,134 in 2013, more touchdowns setting a career high again last season with 17 all while limiting his turnovers as he set a career best in interceptions, throwing only four. With this, McPhee led the CIS with the best touchdowns to interception rate (minimum 50 pass attempts) with his 17 to four comparison.

It’s no coincidence that the last time Queen’s lost on the hallowed ground that is Richardson Stadium Billy McPhee was only making his first start as a quarterback for Queen’s against the defending Vanier Cup champion McMaster Marauders. Since that point the Gaels have gone 14-0 at home.
