HAMILTON, Ont. – Ontario University Athletics (OUA) has sanctioned the University of Guelph for a violation of OUA Football Regulation 6.8.1.
The University Of Guelph football team breached OUA Football Rule 6.8.1 on October 20, 2012 when a member of the Guelph football staff used a two way radio to communicate with the Guelph bench. This was in addition to the two lines of communication already provided for verbal contact between the spotters’ box and the sideline.
As a result, OUA rendered the following sanctions against Guelph.
- A one (1) game suspension
of Stu Lang, Head Coach, to be served in either the first or second
regular season game of 2013. The University of Guelph must
determine which game and notify OUA prior to serving the
suspension;
- A fine of one thousand and
five hundred dollars ($1,500) to be imposed on the University of
Guelph for the breach;
- A written letter of apology
to the York University football coaching staff
"We take this allegation very seriously and fully accept the OUA findings and subsequent penalties," said Tom Kendall, University of Guelph Director of Athletics. "We demand that each of our sports comply with all OUA regulations and we will have procedures in place to help prevent this in the future."
