PROFILE

Although Tyler Greenslade is entering his third season of CIS football for the University of Alberta Golden Bears, due to an injury shortened sophomore campaign, the Edmonton-born linebacker is still a new face on the national scene.

Greenslade, who stands 6’1” and weighs 215lbs, has been a force for the Golden Bears over the 12 games he has played in two seasons. In those dozen Canada West contests, Greenslade has racked up 57 solo tackles, 73.5 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, one interception (which he returned 45 yards), and one pass break-up.

In fact, despite playing just four games in 2011, he still managed 25 solo tackles and the second highest tackles per game ratio (7.0 per game).

Now in his third season, Greenslade will be looked upon to lead the Golden Bears’ defence.

“Tyler’s football IQ is very high,” noted head coach Jeff Stead. “He trains very hard to prepare himself for each week and each season, and I expect him to be a leader on the defense as well as the team this year. “He allows us to do many different things on defense because of his athleticism. We are looking for big things from #7 this year.”
