Box Score The #4 Brandon Bobcats earned a weekend split with a 3-1 (24-26, 26-24, 25-20, 25-21) win over the #6 Manitoba Bisons in women's volleyball action on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Investors Group Athletic Centre (U of M campus).

Brandon (6-2) now moves into sole possession of second place in the conference. Shanlee McLennan had a game high 18 kills for the Bobcats while Victoria Dakin had 16 kills.

The Bisons (5-3) saw their three game conference winning streak over Brandon end with the loss. Rachel Cockrell led Manitoba with 16 kills.

"We just didn't defend nearly well enough," said Bisons head coach Ken Bentley. "We had chances to win the second set and we kicked that away to go up 2-0 to put them back in the match. They're too good of a team to make those mistakes against."

The teams split the first two sets, each won at 26-24. In the first, with the score tied at 24, a Bobcats return went long. On the following play, Emily Erickson scored a service ace to the give the Bisons the opening set.

Brandon took a late lead in the second set on a kill from Dakin. With the Bobcats up 25-24, Manitoba's Crystal Mulder returned a serve long and Brandon tied the game up at one set a side. Dakin was 8-for-14 on the attack through two sets for the visitors, who had a 30% attack percentage in the second.

In the third set, the Bobcats went on a 7-0 run midway through to go ahead 22-16. Dakin recorded two service aces in that stretch and Brandon would take the set 25-20.

With the score tied at 21 in the fourth, the Bobcats brought Regan Dahl in off the bench to serve. Brandon would win the point on her first three serves and on the fourth, an attack error by Cockrell gave the Bobcats the set 25-21 and the game, three sets to one.

The Bisons travel to Edmonton next weekend for a pair of games against the Alberta Pandas, starting on Friday, Nov. 22. Brandon will host Mount Royal next weekend on Friday and Saturday at the Healthy Living Centre.
