Sea-Hawks take Huskies in home opener

The Memorial Sea-Hawks defeated the Saint Mary's Huskies 3-1 in AUS women's volleyball action on Friday night at The Field House.

The Huskies jumped out to a quick start on the Sea-Hawks taking the first set 25-20, with Anna Watt and Maddie Clarke leading the charge.  Clarke would finish the match with a team-high 9 kills, with Watt chipping in with 8 in the loss.

Memorial came out strong in the second set with kills from Jill Snow and Sarah Dawe, followed by a service ace by Dawe.  Saint Mary's would battle back and jumped out to a 15-12 advantage, but couldn't hold the lead and the Sea-Hawks would take the set 25-19.

The Sea-Hawks would use the momentum from the second set to carry them to victory, with a 25-17 third set victory, followed by a 25-19 fourth set.

Jill snow finished with 15 kills and 17 digs to lead the way for the Sea-Hawks.  Sarah Dawe also registered a strong performance with 13 kills and 15 digs.

Maddie Clarke was the top Huskie, with 9 kills and 16 digs.  Jamie Rourke had a team-high 17 digs and chipped in with 5 points in the loss.

The teams are back in action tomorrow night at 6:00pm at The Field House.  The game is also available on AUStv.ca.
