X-Men top Capers 2-0

(SYDNEY, N.S.) - The Cape Breton University Capers seven-game winning streak came to a halt Wednesday night in Sydney.

With a first round playoff bye already secured and without star strikers Ian Greedy and Justin Maheu in the lineup, the Capers dropped a 2-0 decision to the StFX X-Men in AUS men's soccer action at the Cape Breton Health Recreation Complex on the CBU campus.

Graeme Hodgkinson in the 18th minute and Liam Elbourne in the 35th minute supplied the offence for the visiting X-Men, who improved to 6-3-3 overall.

The Capers fall to 8-3-1.

Thomas Pieroway made nine saves in the StFX goal for the win. Simon Keating had two saves in a losing cause for the Capers.

CBU will wrap up regular season play this Sunday when they face the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers in Charlottetown.

StFX will travel to Dalhousie for their final regular season game Saturday at 3:15 p.m.
