WHKY | Voyageurs Shut Out by Gryphons

WHKY | Voyageurs Shut Out by Gryphons
On Saturday afternoon, the Voyageurs women's hockey team lost to the University of Guelph Gryphons 3-0.

The first period held most of the action through the course of the game as Guelph was able to add two goals into the scoring column against Laurentian's zero.

The Vees were able to fend off the very aggressive and powerful Gryphon attack landing a total of eight shots on the Gryphons Valerie Lamenta while the Gryphons were able to send thirteen onto Karen Collins.

The Gryphons were able to score on two of the thirteen opportunities, at 5:57 Emma Forcey scored with the assistance of Mallory Young and Molly Crossman and again at exactly halfway through the first period by Karlie Shell.

The second period saw little action as the only calls were penalties, one of them being on Guelph's Sophie Rodenburg for trying to return her net minders stick by hand but then joining the play, giving her two minutes for illegal participation.

The third being underway as well resulted in little to no action until 10:48 when Kelly Gribbons added the last goal past Karen Collins giving a final score of 3-0 in the game.

The Voyageurs will look for a win as they host Brock Sunday at 1:50pm.
