RMC 1 - 1 Laurentian Saturday - 2018/09/01

Kingston, ON - The RMC Paladins (0-0-1) earned a point in their first game of the season after a 1-1 tie with the Laurentian Voyageurs (0-1-1) on Saturday afternoon. Scoring for the hosts was Yeungjae Ham.

Ham opened the scoring midway through the first half, giving the Paladins an early lead.

Paladins captain Simon Leslie picked up the first yellow card of the game--a sign of things to come.

Halftime

After 45 minutes, RMC enjoyed a 1-0 lead.

Rough play throughout the game culminated in a scuffle early in the second half. RMC received five yellow cards in the match, while Laurentian was dealt only one. Liam Chambers, Graeme Curran, Bradley Rylski, and Dylan Hoare joined Leslie with yellow cards for RMC. Carver Grenon was the sole Voyageur to be booked.

The Voyageurs tied the game in dramatic fashion late in stoppage time. Laurentian pushed everyone, including the keeper, into the 18-yard box for a long throw-in from Jacob Gramegna. Kristian Shuttleworth was the hero for the visitors, stealing a point just before the final whistle.

RMC battles Nipissing on Sunday at 2:15 PM on Navy Bay 5, while Laurentian crosses the causeway to play Queen's tomorrow.
