TORONTO – The Ryerson Rams men's volleyball team snapped a two-game losing streak with an impressive 3-1 (25-18, 25-18, 19-25, 25-19) win over the visiting York Lions on Friday night at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

“Coming into this game, we knew we had to play well,” said Ryerson interim head coach Dustin Reid. “When things get tough, we need to respond together and that's what we did all week in practice and I was happy to see us do it tonight.”
The first two sets were almost identical with the Rams leading for the majority and the Lions chasing from behind. In the third set, York led 16-12 at the technical timeout and traded points with the Rams until scoring four of the set's final six points for the win. The Rams went on a 9-4 run after the technical in the fourth to secure the 3-1 victory.
“Today we felt a lot more relaxed,” said third-year outside hitter Lucas Coleman. “ We had a really tough weekend last weekend, playing two of the top teams in our league and we knew we had to get this win. We came out really confident and a little bit more relaxed than last week.”
Robert Wojcik (Whitby, Ont.) led the Rams with a match-high 17 kills, while Coleman (Brooklin, Ont.) added 15 kills. Alex Dawson (Scarborough, Ont.) and Uchenna Ofoha (Markham, Ont.) each had nine kills, while setter Adam Anagnostopoulos (Waterloo, Ont.) recorded 49 assists.
Arthur Szwarc (Toronto) led the Lions with 15 kills, while Alexander Duncan-Thibault (Scarborough, Ont.) added 10 kills.
With the win, the Rams improve to 5-2 on the season while York moves to 4-5.
The Rams will host the Nipissing Lakers (4-4) Saturday (Nov. 21) at 8:00 p.m. at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
