Tommies Suffer First Loss, Fall to Aigles Bleues in a Shootout

The St. Thomas Tommies suffered their first loss of the season, falling 2-1 to the U de M Aigles Bleues in a shootout Friday night in Moncton. 

The Tommies opened the scoring 14:57 into the first with a goal from Lauren Henman, who beat U de M netminder Gabrielle Forget high short side. The Tommies outshot the Aigles Bleues 11-2 in the frame.

In the second, U de M came out firing and were rewarded with 21 seconds to go when Karine Roy found the back of the net to tie the game 1-1. 

Both teams mustered 11 shots in the third, but neither were able to find the go-ahead goal.  

After a scoreless extra frame, the Aigles Bleues secured the win in a shootout, scoring on all three shots. The Tommies missed their first shot, but scored on the second.

Tommies goaltender Abby Clarke took the loss in net but stood tall, especially in the overtime, turning away 32 shots.
