Second-year striker Natasha Klasios scored two first-half goals and added one assist in leading the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over the Trent Excalibur on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 3) at Varsity Stadium.

Klasios, the reigning OUA East rookie of the year, continued her hot start, having now scored four goals over the last two games. Klasios opened the scoring for the Blues in the 19th minute after making a beautiful turn between two Excalibur defenders before finding the open net.

Trent responded in the 30th minute as third-year midfielder Kaitlyn Steffler converted a long strike just over the fingertips of Toronto goalkeeper Tori Edgar.

However, Klasios restored the Blues lead five minutes later. The Unionville, Ont., native raced past the Excalibur defence on a long through ball, which set her up with an easy finish past Trent goalkeeper Brandi Riggs.

Midfielder Nicki Parkes rounded out the scoring for the Blues in the 51st minute on a beautiful cross from Klasios which set up the fourth-year veteran with an easy finish.

Edgar would finish the match with one saves for Toronto. Riggs, under a stream of constant pressure, recorded 11 saves in the loss.

Toronto is right back at it tomorrow afternoon (Sept 4.) when they take on the visiting UOIT Ridgebacks at Varsity Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
