(MONCTON, N.B.) - The Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues were 3-1 winners over the Saint Mary's University Huskies in the second game of the best 2-of-3 Subway AUS women's hockey championship semifinal series, Friday at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

The series is now tied at 1-1 with the third and deciding game set for Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Halifax.

Laura Polak gave the visitors a 1-0 lead at 2:49 of the first period, but Marie-Pier Arsenault (from Natacha Bergeron and Catherine Dumas) tied it five minutes later.

Amélie Dion (from Manon Lamarre and Karine Roy) scored what proved to be the winning goal, on the power-play, at 11:57.

There was no second period scoring with each team missing a number of opportunities.

Karine Roy took advantage of an open net with 13 seconds left to play to put an end to the Huskies' hopes of tying it up before regulation time ended.

Gabrielle Forget registered the win in nets facing 18 shots compared to 23 for Sienna Cooke.

"That was our objective to win this game," said Subway Player of the Game Amélie Dion. "Games are always very physical against Saint Mary's. We played well in all three zones and Forget made the key saves. We were more focused tonight and playing in our rink helped. It was nice not to play in overtime for once in the playoffs."

"We played our game and won," added Moncton head coach Denis Ross. "The girls were combative tonight and our power-play worked. Emotions are always high against Saint Mary's. It was different to finish with no overtime. The team adapted better to the adversity and we came back strong and quick."
