Clark gets shutout in 3-0 win over visiting Panthers

(Halifax, NS). The Saint Mary's Huskies defeated the UPEI Panthers 3-0 in AUS women's hockey action Sunday afternoon at Alumni Arena.

Saint Mary's got on the board first when Subway player of the game Mary Worndl (Kitchener, ON) scored on a 2 on 1 at 3:54 to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead after the first period. The assists went to Breanna Lanceleve (Middle Sackville, NS) and Laura Polak (Bedford, NS).

In the second period, The Huskies increased their lead when Hannah Askin (Waterloo, ON) tallied from the point at 3:25 to make it 2-0. The goal was assisted by Brianna Soper (Oshawa, ON) and Nicole Blance (Dunville, NF). Saint Mary's kept it up when Sarah Douglas (Whitby, ON) potted a marker from the slot at 17:41 to make the score 3-0 after 40 minutes. Haylee Tretiak (Teulon, MB) and Gemma MacDonald (Blooming Point, PE) had the assists on the goal. 

Both teams went scoreless in the third period.

The Huskies outshot the Panthers 34-15. Rebecca Clark (Keswick, ON) made 15 saves to get the shutout for the Huskies. Kristy Brown (Southhampton, NS) stopped 31 shots in goal for the Panthers.

The Huskies are back in action this Friday at home against the Mount Allison Mounties at 7:00 pm. The Panthers' next game is this Saturday on the road against the St. Thomas Tommies at 7.
