The last-place Memorial Sea-Hawks snapped their three game losing streak as they narrowly edged the second-place Dalhousie Tigers 83-80 Sunday afternoon at the Dalplex. The Sea-Hawks led by as many as 18 points as they stunned the Tigers, who had blown out the Sea-Hawks by nearly 30 points the day before.

Vasilije Curcic had a double-double as he led the Sea-Hawks with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Caleb Gould had a game-high 21 points on 9-15 shooting. Davion Parnsalu added 13 points and six rebounds.

Kashrell Lawrence had a team-high 14 points to go along with five rebounds in the loss, while Ritchie Kanza Mata had nine points, four assists and three steals. Sean Dodds and John Traboulsi came up big off the bench for the Tigers as they dropped 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Tied at 16 with two minutes left in the first quarter, Adam Karmali hit two three-pointers within 30 seconds to give the Tigers the lead. Austin Chambers hit two free throws to make it a one point game, but Jarred Reid hit a layup with nine seconds left to give the Tigers a three point lead after ten minutes of play.

Caleb Gould was an absolute monster in the second quarter, going a perfect 5-5 from the field as the Sea-Hawks lead grew to as large as 18 points. The Tigers could only trim the lead slightly and the Sea-Hawks held a 14 point lead going into halftime.

Ritchie Kanza Mata hit a three with eight minutes in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to single digits as the Tigers trailed 68-61. The Tigers kept rolling and Sean Dodds scored eight straight points to regain the lead for the Tigers as they led 71-70 with 4:26 to go in the game.

Tied at 75 with 2:26 to go, Noel Moffat hit a three for the Sea-Hawks, but Sven Stammberger answered back with a three-ball of his own to knot the game up at 78. With the Sea-Hawks up 82-80, Jarred Reid had the opportunity to give the Tigers the lead but he missed a three. The Tigers intentionally fouled, and Caleb Gould hit one of his free throws to seal the victory for the Sea-Hawks.

The Tigers will look to win a crucial game at home on Tuesday when they host the Acadia Axemen in a pivotal four-point game, while the Sea-Hawks will host the StFX X-Men on Saturday. Both games tip off at 8:00pm.
