Huskies make in three in row with 3-1 win over Aigles Bleues

(HALIFAX, N.S.) - In the Huskies' annual Pink in the Rink game, team's captain, second-year forward Breanna Lanceleve (Middle Sackville, N.S.) had two goals, including the game winner at 16:18 of the second period, as the Saint Mary's Huskies defeated the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Alumni Arena.

Lanceleve's performance earned her Subway player of the game honours.

Saint Mary's got on the board first when Lanceleve scored at 5:03 of the first period to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. The Aigles Bleues answered back when Katryne Villeneuve (Casselman, Ont.) tallied at 14:57 to tie the game at 1-1 after the first period. 

Lanceleve's second goal was the only goal of the second period to make the score 2-1 after 40 minutes. 

In the third, the Huskies sealed the victory when Nicole Blanche (Dunville, N.L.), who also had an assist in the game, potted an empty net goal at 19:49.

The Huskies outshot the Aigles Bleues 35-21 in the contest. Justine McIntosh (East St. Paul, Man.) made 20 saves to get the win in goal for the Huskies and Emile Bouchard (Casselman, Ont.) stopped 32 shots in goal for the Aigles Bleues.

The Huskies are back in action this Wednesday against the St. Francis Xavier X-Women at 7 p.m. at Alumni Arena. The Aigles Bleues play next this Thursday against the Mount Allison Mounties at 7 p.m. in Moncton.
