Parkinson, Yates power tigers past Panthers 2-0

The Tigers improved to 6-3-2 this afternoon with a convincing 2-0 win over the UPEI Panthers at Wickwire Field. They put on a dominant performance in their last game before a final two-game home stand to finish the season.

With the loss, the Panthers drop to 5-4-2 and sit fifth in the AUS with 17 points. They now face two crucial games against Memorial and Cape Breton next weekend, who sit fourth and sixth in the AUS, respectively.

Victoria Parkinson opened the scoring in the seventh minute to give the Tigers the early lead after a beautiful pass from Doriana Homeriski and the Tigers held on for the 1-0 lead going into halftime.

The Tigers controlled play in the second half, limiting the Panthers to just one shot all game long as keeper Rachel Hunt made the lone save off the shot by Emilie Pelletier to preserve the shutout.

Michelle Yates added another goal for the Tigers in the 82nd minute after she fired her seventh of the season past the Panthers keeper with a beautiful header to seal the 2-0 victory for the Tigers.

The Tigers will hit the pitch again when they host the StFX X-Women on October 25 at 1:00pm, while the Panthers host Memorial at the same time.
