Huskies top Tommies 6-4

(HALIFAX, N.S.) The Saint Mary's Huskies topped the St. Thomas Tommies 6-4 Friday night at Alumni Arena.

Subway player of the game Caitlyn Manning (Cambridge, Ont.) got a goal and two assists for Huskies.  

Rebecca Johnson (Stoney Creek, Ont.) scored two goals and Breanna Lanceleve (Middle Sackville, N.S.) had a goal and an assist to lead the Huskies' offence in the contest.

Justine Mcintosh (East St. Paul, MA) had 31 saves on the night to lead the Saint Mary's defence.

The Tommies outshot the Huskies 35-28. After St. Thomas opened the scoring, Lanceleve's marker tied the game at one after the first period.

In the second period, the Huskies emerged from a five-goal period with a 4-3 lead after 40 minutes.

After the Tommies scored to make the game a 4-4 tie in the third, Haylee Tretiak (Teulon, Man.) gave the Huskies the lead and Mary Worndl (Kitchener, Ont.) clinch the win.

For the Tommies, Jenna Scott (Fredericton, N.B.) and Marina Sergina (Dmitrov, Russia) each added a goal. 

Goalie, Taylor Cook (Branford, Ont.) stopped 22 shots for the Tommies.

The Huskies' next game is on Nov. 2 against the St. Francis Xavier X-Women at 2 p.m. in Antigonish.

The Tommies travel to Antigonish on  Nov. 1 for a game against the X-Women at 3 p.m.
