Moore's 20 pushes Gaels past Rams

BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. (January 6, 2012) - Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont. and the Queen's Gaels (5-4) kicked off 2012 with a victory over the Ryerson Rams (3-5) on Friday night in the ARC. The final score of the game was 74-58.

The Gaels steadily increased their lead with consistent play over the course of four quarters to build up their game winning 16 point lead. The Gaels best quarter defensively was the third when they held Ryerson to just nine points while countering with 15 points of their own. 

Brittany Moore led all scorers, scoring 13 of her 20 points in the second half. She also added four rebounds and three assists to round out her stat line. Jenny Wright of Kingston, Ont. added 12 points, and was the Gaels' leading rebounder, pulling in eight boards. For her efforts she was named player of the game in front of the home crowd. 

Both squads picked up 31 rebounds, with 17 of the Gaels rebounds coming on the offensive boards. The Gaels moved the ball well, recording 10 more assists than the Rams on the night and were also more efficient with only 13 turnovers to the Rams 16. 

With her 20 points, Moore has now moved into a tie for fifth all-time in the OUA for points in a career. Her next basket will move her into sole possession of fifth on the leaderboard. 

The Gaels' look to continue their success tomorrow versus the Universy of Toronto Varsity Blues to close out the doubleheader at home. Tipoff is set for 6:00 pm.
