(Halifax, NS) The Dalhousie Tigers found themselves down early against the Saint Mary's Huskies and never could recover on Wednesday, November 11 at the Halifax Forum. After jumping out to a 3-0 lead the Huskies downed the Tigers 5-3.

The Saint Mary's Huskies wasted no time scoring the opening goal of the game as Matt Tipoff scored on a cross-ice pass from Stephen MacAulay just 52 seconds into the game.

Stephen Gillard stretched the lead to 2-0 for the Huskies halfway through the first frame. Gillard was able to step into a loose puck in the high slot and rifle a snap shot past Dalhousie goalie Corbin Boes.

It looked like Matt English cut the deficit to 2-1 scoring off a rebound but the goal was waved off due to goalie interference.

The Huskies went to the dressing room with a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

The second period featured four goals with each side contributing two. The Huskies were able to stretch the lead to three goals when Matt Tipoff found Jamie Doornbosch all alone on the side of the net six minutes into the frame.

Phil Gaudry did his best to keep the game within reach scoring less than a minute later. Gaudry flew down the left hand side of the ice unaccompanied and ripped a wrist shot over the shoulder of Cole Cheveldave cutting the lead to 3-1.

Just three minutes later the Tigers were at it again as Fabian Walsh danced his way into the Huskies zone and eventually finished the play off scoring off a JP Harvey rebound.

The Tigers were suddenly back into the game finding themselves down one half way through the second.

Before the Tigers could escape the period Calder Brooks ripped a slap shot on the power play beating Boes and bringing Saint Mary's lead back to two goals.

The late goal gave the Huskies a 4-2 lead after two periods.

Anthony Repaci put the Huskies up 5-2 halfway through the third period on a quick shot on the powerplay. The Tigers countered seconds later as Jesse Lussier walked out from the goaline and chipped the puck past Cheveldave.

Corbin Boes stopped 35 of the 40 shots he faced while Saint Mary's counter part Cole Cheveldave stopped 17 of 20.

Saint Mary's (5-4-0) hosts UPEI (4-5-0) and Dalhousie (2-5-2) travels to Moncton (5-3-1) on Friday, November 13.
