(FREDERICTON, N.B.) - The St. Thomas Tommies earned their fifth win of the season, defeating the SAaint Mary's Huskies 4-3 Friday night in front of 188 fans at the Grant-Harvey Centre.

Cassidy McTaggart had two points for the Tommies in the win.

"Cassidy  had that real nice goal on the breakaway and the other one is how that line should work—get the puck to the crease and bang it," Tommies head coach Peter Murphy said of the fourth-year forward's two-goal performance.

McTaggart put the Tommies on the board early in the first, beating Tigers' goaltender Rebecca Weagle low on a strong individual effort. Just over two minutes later, Teah Anderson put the Tommies up 2-0 with a power play marker from the point.

The Huskies pressured throughout the rest of the period, but couldn't beat Tommies netminder Abby Clarke.

"That first period was some of the best systems hockey we've played all year," Murphy said. "There weren't many things to talk about on the bench and there weren't many things to talk about between periods."

Moira MacDonald found the back of the net on a 2-on-1 to put the Tigers on the board early in the second, but McTaggart profited off a scramble in front of Weagle for her second goal of the game and a 3-1 Tommies lead heading into the third.

The Huskies opened the final frame with a power play goal from Mary Worndl to bring SMU within one. Midway through the period, Lauren Henman put the Tommies back up by two, but the Huskies wouldn't quit and were rewarded with a Nicole Blanche power play goal.

Trailing by one late in the game, the Huskies pulled Weagle for the extra attacker but the Tommies held on for the 4-3 win.

The Tommies are on the road to Prince Edward Island tomorrow where they will face the UPEI Panthers, while The Huskies will travel to Sackville to face off against the Mount Allison Mounties.
