| By:
WOLFVILLE, N.S. - The Acadia Axemen grabbed an 3-2 overtime shoot-out victory over the visiting University of Calgary Dinos Tuesday night.

The win came at the hands of the shoot-out goal by rookie Nicolas Choinard. The Matane, QC native turned heads with his aggressive and gritty play while sporting a physical presence and speed that allowed him to be selected as the game's Subway First Star of the game.

The Axemen scores first at the 8 minute mark when first year forward Alex Beaton scored his first of his short University career. The Dinos' Brock Nixon replied lat in the first to end the first period tied at one.

Calgary took a one goal lead at 9:16 of the second period when Eric Frere scored on the powerplay against rookie netminder Peter DiSalvo.

With just over three minutes remaining in the final frame, second year forward Jacob Deitrich scored off a rebound from the hard work of Adam McIllwraith to tie the game at three.

Outshooting the Dinos 24-15 after two periods, Calgary took a 10-6 shots on net lead in the third but it was DiSalvo's hard work between the posts that begged for the overtime period.

After 10 minutes of end to end skating, the game fell into a shoot-out scenario where the Axemen captured the win on a Nicolas Choinard goal between the legs of Kris Lazaruk in the shoot-out decision.

The Dinos head to Antigonish to take on the StFX X-men while Acadia travels down the road to Saint Mary's to take on the Saint Mary's Huskies. Calgary ends their Maritime road trip in Fredericton to take on the defending CIS National champion UNB Varsity Reds.
