Sea-Hawks down Tigers 68-57 to split the weekend

(St. John's, N.L.) In their second matchup at the Field House, the Memorial Sea-Hawks turned up the heat and took a 68-57 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers in AUS women's basketball on Sunday.

The scoring was tight throughout the entire game but the Sea-Hawks were just able to edge out the Tigers in each quarter. By the end of the third, the Tigers were within two points of the Sea-Hawks with a score of 45-43, but Memorial came back to dominate the last quarter, outscoring their opponent 23-14.

Tianna Brown (Douglas, AZ) led the Sea-Hawks with an impressive 25 points, and 10 rebounds in the win. Megan Robinson (Waterloo, O.N.) and Lindsey Taylor (Waterloo, O.N.) were close behind with 16 and 15 points respectively.

Courtney Thompson (Saint John, N.B.) led the Tigers with 30 points and seven rebounds in the loss. Dierdre Alexander (Woodstock, N.B.) contributed 10 of her own.

The Subway AUS player of the game was Brown for the Sea-Hawks. Thompson was player of the game for Dalhousie.

The Sea-Hawks improved to 2-2 with the win, while the Tigers fell to 3-1 on the season.

Memorial will be on home court again next weekend for a pair of games against the UPEI Panthers on November 22 and 23.

Dalhousie will host Saint Mary's on the 21st and will travel to Wolfville for a game against Acadia on the 22nd.
