St. JOHN'S, NL - The Sea-Hawks took down Acadia in straight sets Saturday night, taking the first of three between these teams. The first match of the Second half for both teams could not have gone better for the home side, as Memorial continued their dominance on their home court. They've now won five in a row for this season, 12 in a row overall at home. 

Acadia looked disorganized from the start, and the Sea-Hawks were able to take advantage. They were able to leverage their strong defense and excellent attack to dispatch Acadia in fairly convincing fashion. There was some concern that Acadia's outside attack, led by AUS All Star Sarah Ross, would pose a problem for the Sea-Hawks but that never came to fruition. 

Memorial's first touch on the ball was great all night, and they were able to use their poise to keep Acadia in disarray all match. Some key communication breakdowns late stalled what could have been the start of a comeback for the Axewomen.  

Sarah Ross led the Axewomen with 9 attacked, yet Acadia posted a dismal .010 hitting percentage. Sea-Hawk Layna Levorson led the attack with 7 kills and a hitting percentage of 0.500. Kierstin Fey and Jill Snow each added seven kills for Memorial.

That was the difference in the end. Memorial remained composed throughout the night when Acadia went on the offensive, played strong defense at the net and wound up taking this one, a convincing victory to start the second half.
