EDMONTON - The CIS #7 ranked Alberta Pandas' rugby team closed out the regular season with their third win in four games, defeating the Calgary Dinos 25-10 at the Strathcona Druids Rugby Park just outside of Edmonton.

Third-year Panda Louise Chavarie scored three tries on Sunday afternoon, while Alberta scoring leader Karlee Carbert and Chelsea Guthrie also scored for Alberta.  All five tries went unconverted, although the Pandas were unlucky not to convert their second attempt, which struck the upright and bounced out.

Calgary received tries from Elizabeth MacKinnon, her team-leading third of the season, and Amanda Williams.

With the win, Alberta finishes second in Canada West with a 3-1 record, while Calgary claims third with a 2-2 mark.  The two programs will now clash in the semifinal of the Canada West championship next Friday, October 21 in Calgary. Lethbridge will face Victoria and the two semifinal winners play for the conference title and a trip to Nationals.

The 2-2 record is a marked improvement for a Dinos club that went 0-4 last season and lost their only game against Alberta 78-0.
