(Halifax, N.S.) – A combined 44 kills and 0.325 hitting percentage helped the host Dalhousie Tigers top the Moncton Aigles Bleus 3-0 (25-9, 25-13, 25-12) on Saturday afternoon at the Dalplex.

It was a balanced attack for Dalhousie, as four different players had at least five kills. The Tigers were led by outsider hitter Anna Dunn-Suen (Halifax, NS) with 13 kills, and setter Courtney Baker (Bridgewater, NS) with 12.

Moncton finished with just 18 kills, but were led by outside hitters Pascale Dorion (Caraquet, NB) and Christelle Bertin (Beresford, NB), who both had seven.

The Tigers took an early 7-2 lead in the first set and didn't look back.

Dunn-Suen and Baker had five kills a piece and were put into advantageous positions thanks to some excellent serving that kept the Aigles Bleus out of position for the majority of the set.

Bertin did an serviceable job for her squad, recording seven digs to go with three kills but it wasn't enough to stop a potent Dalhousie attack as they cruised to a 25-9 set win.

The second set started off evenly matched, with the two teams deadlocked at six. A service ace by Dunn-Suen – her first of two in the set – shifted the momentum back to the Tigers and they didn't look back, recording 19 of the next 26 points to take the set 25-13.

The third set began much the way the second did, as the two teams exchanged the first eight points before Dunn-Suen once again returned the favour to her squad with an emphatic kill. The Tigers wouldn't look back, notching 20 of the next 28 points to win the third set 25-12.

Dunn-Suen was named the Subway Player of the Game for Dalhousie, while outside hitter Catherine Guitard (Madran, NB) earned honours for her team, thanks to her 13 digs which kept a number of set points alive for her squad.

With the win, the Tigers advanced to 3-0 and will take on UNB at the Dalplex later tonight at 6 p.m. Moncton fell to 2-1 with the loss and will battle Memorial tonight at 8 p.m. That game will also be at the Dalplex.
