TROIS-RIVIÈRES, Que. --
Yanis Zoraï scored a goal and an assist as UQTR defeated the soccer Redmen 3-1 on a rain-soaked field at Stade Gilles-Doucet on Thursday.
It was UQTR's third consecutive home-field victory over the Redmen, dating back to a 4-0 McGill whitewash on Oct. 20, 2013.
The Patriotes' other marksmen were from striker
Guy-Alain Fahé of the Ivory Coast and
Noah Lapierre of St. Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que.
McGill's lone marker came in the 53rd minute from a pair of freshman, when
Mederic Gervais of Montreal buried a pass from
Ramdane Tafer of Laval, Que., to put the visitors on the board.
Redmen rookie goalkeeper
Antoine Marchal, a 6-foot-3 management student from Montreal, stopped seven shots in a losing effort. UQTR's
David Lewis-Lamoureux of Sorel-Tracy Que., made three saves to collect the win.
McGill's
Alexandre de Santis and the Patriotes'
Guillaume Comtois-Noël were both issued yellow cards in the match.
Both teams next take the pitch on Sept. 25, when the Redmen (2-1-0) face Laval (1-1-1) in Quebec City and UQTR (3-0-2) visits Montreal (0-1-1).
