Ridgebacks comeback falls short against Lancers

WINDSOR, Ont. – In their first meeting in Windsor since 2015, the UOIT men's hockey team was unable to come back from allowing four unanswered goals to end the first period as they eventually fell 7-4.
 
The Ridgebacks came within a goal twice in the contest, but a late goal by Alex Friesen put the game out of reach.
 
UOIT will face the same Windsor Lancers on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Thus far, their weekend is off to a similar start to 2015 as the Ridgebacks fell 8-3 in the first game before winning the following night 3-1.

  Josh Maguire (Cobourg, Ont.) had his first two-goal and three-point game since joining the Ridgebacks and only his second multi-point night. Already through seven games he has matched his 2017-18 goal total.
Danny Elser (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) scored his third goal of the year, while adding an assist.
• Rounding out the Ridgebacks scoring as Anthony Latina (Scarborough, Ont.) with is second of the season.
• Windsor's offence was led by Alex Friesen's two goals, while Brennan Feasey had a three-point night.
  Brendan O'Neill (Ilderton, Ont.) got the start for the Ridgebacks, but only played the opening period for UOIT – turning aside nine of 13 Windsor shots.
Michael Bullion (Anchorage, Alaska) finished the night for the Ridgebacks, making 21 saves over the final two periods.
• At the opposite end of the ice Jonathan Reinhart made 25 stops.
