Aigles Bleus blow out Tigers 10-3

The University of Moncton Aigles Bleus ended their five-game losing streak in dominating fashion, as they demolished the Dalhousie Tigers 10-3 Saturday night at the Halifax Forum. This is the second blowout loss for the Tigers in as many days, as they fell 7-2 at the hands of the UNB Varsity Reds just one day before. It was a crucial win for the Aigles Bleus, who now are five points up on the Tigers for the final playoff spot in the AUS.

Danny Chiasson, Allain Saulnier, Samuel Groulx all scored twice for the Aigles Bleus, while Alex Saulnier and Alex Noel each finished with four points in the blowout victory.

Corbin Boes made 41 saves in the loss for the Tigers.

It was the Tigers who struck first as Colton Parsons scored his fifth goal of the season in the first five minutes to give the Tigers a 1-0 advantage. Moncton answered right back, and Samuel Groulx and Maxime Pilon each potted a goal to gain the lead for the Aigles Bleus. They'd add three more in the final 2:33 of the first minute and they opened up a massive 5-1 lead as they headed into the first intermission.

Parsons scored again early in the second period to trim the lead to 5-2, but Alex Noel answered right back just a minute later to make it a 6-2 game. Fabian Walsh scored his tenth goal of the season in the final minute of the period, but that's as close as the Tigers would get. Thierry Comtois, Allain Saulnier, Danny Chiasson and Samuel Groulx all scored in the third period as they blew out the Tigers 10-3. The Tigers losing streak now stands at four games, and they've now lost ten of their last twelve games.

The Aigles Bleus will try to win back-to-back games for the first time since October 24 when they take on the UPEI Panthers on Wednesday. The Panthers have lost three of their last four games.
